Portuguese Title: O Pecado Mora ao lado
After sending his wife inland during the harsh New York summer, Richard Sherman meets an unnamed blonde model who is his new upstairs neighbor. Although stricken with a recent paranoia about the possibility of becoming unfaithful – he is currently reading a book called The Seven Year Itch, which talks about the high probability of a man becoming unfaithful after seven years of marriage, exactly how long he has been married – he invites the girl to his flat for a drink, and they become friends.
Throughout his relationship with the model, only friendly on her part but with an uncontrollable and hilarious attraction of Richard to the blonde, he is haunted by nightmares and delusions of seduction and infidelity, both from him and from his wife, who appears to him in dreams betraying him with his neighbor and friend or shooting him dead out of jealousy of the blonde neighbor.
